My Q1 Journey

My name is Rachel Irabor, I started my tech journey in November 2021. After attending Microsoft Power Platform Bootcamp in my State.

I grew up not knowing how to express myself, I think of life from a different perspective than what I grew up knowing it as.

I had a lot of people around me who thought little of my feelings, and my plans which resulted in me having an inferiority complex.

Starting my tech journey, was an eye-opener for me I got to see the world in a different light and associated myself with a lot of people who had the same interest as me.

I noticed my weaknesses: I was scared, afraid to voice my opinions, and had issues with public speaking, presentations, and knowing which career was for me.

I worked on myself by first loving myself, dissociating myself from people who thought my views were irrelevant, attending to spaces, listening and asking questions, just being myself and taking my documentation on Twitter as a notebook because I write a lot especially when I’m reading and my journey does not have to be in the same path as the next person.

I’m still a work in progress😂😁.

Let me walk you through my Q1 journey in tech

A lot has happened since I started my learning journey in November 2021.

I wrote my first technical blog on Power Apps this year and it got featured in the Microsoft Empower series.

I started the 100 days of python challenge it was stressful for me, with having to meet up with learning every day, documenting what I had learnt and overthinking everything.

I had to understand that I was learning for me, not to impress anyone that it’s okay to stop and come back to it.

The first space I attended on Twitter by David Abu, I was scared to speak and had to send my questions to his DM.

From there I attended every Data Space on Twitter, it wasn’t an easy process, especially with light, I started requesting to speak and ask my questions on spaces.

Today, I host spaces on Twitter about Power Platform and anything 😁 and attend spaces, able to speak on spaces without being scared.

I wrote and passed my PLN 900 certificate exam💃🏾, it wasn’t an easy process because then I had a lot of issues with the Laptop I was using. I was given a laptop😁😉

I wrote the Power Platform Developer exam and failed but guess what the score I had was more than what I expected😂😁. Looking forward to writing it soon.

Started the Google Data Analytics course this year and I’m at Course 4.

I attended Tech Stylers cohort 3 and learnt a lot from the mentors, they are so amazing and connected with people with the same interest as me. which was very important to me because I got to listen to Ladies share their journeys and experiences, it was amazing.

I built a Demo App for a Laundry Company.

The Power Platform Bootcamp I attended in my state late last year, I am part of the Organising team 😉and also going to be a speaker in my second Bootcamp with them I’m so happy💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾.

Started classes on Microsoft Power Platform with the help of Babatunde and Oluwatobi to tutor 90+ participants on Power Apps and Power Automate.

Got invited to attend a meetup in May to talk about Power Apps 💃🏾💃🏾 in Power BI Office Hour.

I had a mind of just writing on my TL that I was looking for opportunities to speak about Power Platform and volunteer but I felt that I was going too fast 😅 and that I just started my tech journey. One of the reasons why I needed this was to work on Public speaking and presentations.

I got invited and the opportunity to demo my App on #Poweraddict show. 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾😁 loved it.

I'm happy to be here and doing what I love. Looking forward to the remaining part of the year.

My Q2 journey, see you there!!!!😁

Thank you for reading!!
